—The client required the installation of a new egress window to meet safety and legal requirements for their basement. We precisely cut into the foundation wall to create the opening, installed a high-quality Jeld-Wen egress window, and built a protective window well with wood retaining walls. This project ensures the basement has a legal and safe escape route while also bringing in additional natural light.
As with all basement and foundation projects, meticulous planning and adherence to building codes were critical. We ensured the window and well dimensions met all local regulations for egress, and that proper drainage was accounted for to prevent moisture issues. This work not only enhances safety but also increases the functionality and value of the basement space.

Challenge & Solution
The main challenge was cutting into the concrete foundation and installing a new window while maintaining the structural integrity of the home. Our solution involved careful measurements and professional-grade cutting tools to create the opening. We then installed the window securely and built a durable wood window well to allow for a safe exit and to hold back the surrounding soil.

Our Process
The best way is to develop and follow a plan. Start with your goals in mind and then work backwards to develop the plan. What steps are required to get you to the goals? Make the plan as detailed as possible. Try to visualize and then plan for every possible setback. Commit the plan to paper and then keep it with you at all times. Review it regularly and ensure that every step takes you closer to your vision and goals. If the plan doesn’t support the vision then change it!
Result Driven
The completed egress window installation provides a secure, convenient, and code-compliant emergency exit. This essential upgrade not only enhances the safety of the basement but also improves its livability, making it a more attractive and functional space for a variety of uses.
